Hmm- could be. I'm not sure- but I pulled those scans from The Hardy Boys Online site- and I doublechecked my books just now and there is a slight difference with my copies of #71, #72 and #79- you can still a "W" encircled on the front cover- very tiny and to the left edge- you can see it in the picture of #79 above- I also have this on my copies of #71 and #72. But yeah- the transition time printings that were just using up old stock sounds like the most likely explanation for any discrepancies.
