I recently bought a Hardy Boys book that looked like it had been rebound. The copyright said it was published in 1959, but the cover is really weird. Its a brown cover, and It says The house on the Cliff, but the coverart is for The twisted claw. On the back of the book is a logo with the letters FLB. Anyone else come across book covers like this? BTW, I bought this at a store called Tommy Guns Antiques in Delevan Wisconsin, and they had a ton of old Hardy Boys and Tom Swift books.
Don't worry, I have a plan.

Right. Every time you say that, I usually do something stupid, like jump in a septic tank.

I guess there was only one story in the book?

I know that in 1978 Grosset & Dunlap released a 9 volume set of 2-in-1 books that were brown (more of a dark mustard color), and featured modified cover art from the revised texts.

Thanks, its been awhile. The book has only The House on the Cliff, with a brown cover with the House on the Cliff written on the top and the Coverart in the lower section. I'll see if I can get a Picture scanned.

That's a library rebinding.  Most likely from the 1970's.  I know that I've seen a picture of other Grosset & Dunlap Hardy Boys titles with a different version of the revised Twisted Claw artwork. (http://hardyboys.us/bt14.htm - look in the News section, in this case it's for The Flickering Torch Mystery)

But, as you can see here: http://www.series-books.com/nancydrew/flb.html, even the Grosset & Dunlap Nancy Drew books had a similar library printing  by Follet Library Binding in the 1970's, where FLB used a modified version of the cover art from the revised Twisted Candles.
