It's that time again!

Let's get started discussing Wipeout! There is a tv episode from the 70s with the same name...but it is sadly nothing like the book. The book takes place in France, for one. It has to do with sailboarding and I think the tv show was surfing. Frank was even involved in the contest as a surfer where as he is not involved in the sailboarding tournament (or whatever it's called).

I shall discuss more later but I wanted to get the ball rolling. What did you like or dislike about this book?
I'm not on here as much or I just come on for a few moments. So I trying to keep up with posts. Sorry for being MIA. I've been off on a mission with Frank and Joe! :)

I like that whenever I hear this book's title- Wipeout, I immediately hear The Surfaris playing their classic instrumental song by the sane name. :)
(I'll post more on the actual book later.)

I don't own Wipeout! Can I read 040 Fright Wave instead?

MacGyver

I guess that would be hardygirl847's call. The selected book of the month is #96 in The Hardy Boys Digests series- Wipeout, but I think it would be interesting to hear comparisons with that book and The Hardy Boys Casefiles #40 Fright Wave, since both are surfing related. And then we can compare both to the "Wipe Out" episode of The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. :)
But like I said- I would defer to hardygirl847 on that.

Thanks Mac. :)

Well, we are mainly discussing the Wipeout story but I'd like to compare it to other books with similar themes. You will have to read Fright Waves and then give us a good synopsis. I unfortunately do not have time to read that one right now too. :)

Yeah. I wish I owned Wipeout. But I don't. :( So, that's why I thought I could read Fright Wave and do something like that. Where do you want my review posted?

Or how about the Beach Boys/Fat Boys 1988 hit Wipeout (the video for the single should be on Youtube, and, as far as I know, the Beach Boys 1989 album Still Cruisin' is the only place where it showed up, besides on a 45).
VHS, S-VHS, Super Betamax, Mini DV, MicroMV, Betacam SP, U-Matic SP - NTSC/PAL/SECAM.  All transferred to DVD!

Hahaha- nice one! I've seen that video- such a funny combination. But I love The Beach Boys and I remember back in the late '80s when The Fat Boys were (okay, pun intended here) pretty big. ;D
Definitely best cover of that song ever. :)

Hardy Boys UB Fan,

Go ahead and keep talking about Fright Waves in this thread. That's fine. :)

Back to the book...I felt like this book had a lot of detail in the plot because several people were involved...and not all of them were connected. Frank pointed out that they needed to consider that it was multiple people/situations. For this reason, I did like the book quite a bit. I wasn't really sure who all was involved. The more I read of the HBs...the better I am at predicting the outcome...but I still had some questions while reading this one.

All right. :) I'm going to try to read it tomorrow. Hope I'll have a review up by the end of the week. :)

I liked the tie-in with the girl's uncle and his villa and art. I also knew who the bad guy was on that end almost immediately.

The rest of it, though, there was so many things going on at once (like hardygirl847) that it was tougher to distinguish.
