You pretty much summed-up the worst aspect of the Undercover Brothers. Repetitiveness and recycled plot devices is the main reason I stopped reading the series.

Just reading the descriptions of some of the UB books, I can get that impression. New mysteries should consist of more than just change of scenery (though that's nice too.) I think the crime itself should be different and even if it's a similar setting and crime, the motives are always going to play a big role and that should be unique as much as possible. Oh well- that's just some of my ideas on that...

The dangerous theatre stuff reminds me a bit of one of the ND '77 episodes (don't recall the title right now).

"A Haunting We Will Go"- if it lives up to this episode of The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries- that would be great! :)

Exactly. And when the trilogies started we didn't even get a change of scenery!

haha. That's one why to look at it.

This wouldn't be the only book in the UB continuity where the boys got a non-ATAC case. It happened at least twice in the graphic novel series.

I knew that, but if you read my original post, I was referring to the S&S'S printed UB's.

Not to mention that they still continued the trend of having gangs of one in the trilogies, so most of the trilogies had an unrelated bad guy in every single book, and that person was comitting the crimes in that book of the trilogy, but weren't involved in the other crimes in the other books.  Plus, the Hardy's really ddn't do any detecting in the series, other than just talking their suspects to confess.

That gets old after awhile. ::) I wonder what this new series will be like. :-\

Yeah, it got so repetitive that even people who were originally fans of the series got tired of it.

Plus that first trilogy felt like S&S had walked off a 100 story balcony.

A 6th Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys crossover book title Stage Fright, is due to be released July 10, 2012 according to Amazon.com.

Lol I thought it looked like they were wearing like superhero costumes for a second! And hmmm.... Sound like an interesting title! Hopefully it'll be longer than the last one!
"Hey! Don't do that here. You'll mess up my bedspread."
Rolling his eyes, Joe sat on the window sill and started sawing.
"Thank you, Joe."
"You're welcome, Martha Stewart."

If anything, I would guess it may well be shorter- I have the feeling this book is the last gasp for this series as well, considering both its parent series are ending now.

Where'd the cover picture come from?  I can't seem to find it on Amazon (.com or .ca), Chapters-Indigo or Simon & Schuster's US or Canadian websites.
