Hey tom,
Theres something I have always wondered about, how do they get information about the suspect. There locked up in a Jail in Haunted and they still have a full suspect profile.. It makes you wonder!

This is probably the least talked about part of the UB - the Suspect Profiles. I don't think there is any explanation to how they get the info. But...just thinking of it now. Could these profiles be something the Hardys make after the mission, for when they're telling the story? Since they never mention writing them, and when undercover I don't think having carrying paper around, untitled "Suspect Profile" would be a good idea.

I sort of thought about that in passing...the books, although they're in the present, could sort of be told as a story that already happened. So then they add in all this stuff as it goes along. You know how they do that on TV and movies sometimes? Add some info here and there for the viewer's benefit?

But more likely, Vijay and them somehow accumulate the intelligence. They probably know some things before they go in, and learn along the way.

Yeah, because if you were going on a mission like that to find a culprit or something, you would want to know background info on everyone instead of knowing nothing at all.

Actually, there not in "the present", considering they're written in past tense, rather then present tense.

Yes, cause sometimes one of them cuts, in, and the other one goes "no I'm telling this part of the story. So its in the past tense, why go back and make a suspect profile though. For the good of the reader?

After every story they go to ATAC headquaters. There they tell there story to the ATAC head of records Franklin W. Dixion, who records every thing they say and adds it to the government infromation library. Also it is his job to record all of F&J's nonATAC cases but these he must gather him self and thus are not recorded in 1st person. 8)

See, I couldn't even recall that. How sad. But don't they mix past and present somehow? Or it just seems that way.

Yeah, but there are a few problems with that.  First off, in the Murder House trilogy, the first book has the ATAC disc telling the Hardys that they'll get the rest of the information after arriving at Deprivation House.  The disc tells them practically zip about the case.  So, not even ATAC knew what was going on.

Plus, considering that there are details that are not even mentioned in any of the conversations, how, exactly, do the Hardys get information such as age, hobbies, school record.  Plus, with the cases, ATAC doesn't know everybody that the Hardys are going to run into when the cases are first sent out, so if the Hardys meet someone halfway through, how can ATAC know that the Hardys have met so and so?

So it's told as a story that's already happened I guess so that's how they already have all the info?

And maybe ATAC does know the info, but they just don't want it out until a certain time. Who knows why they do what they do. Maybe they think it's to protect any accidental "slippage".

What slippage?  The discs reformat themselves.  Oh, wait, no ATAC is afraid that the slippage will occur if someone other than Frank and Joe listen to the music CD and hear the mission in the music notes of the songs.

I mean if Joe talks about it outloud. I don't know, I'm just putting together random things.
