Rolling on the floor laughing out loud.

A lot of the short versions we use here are used very often. I don't think we're going to make up our own. Anyways, you can always Google it.

I know what it meant, I was saying he could have typed it out.. I am on MSN, I know what they all mean.. I was just, oh it doesn't matter.

Olivia

It just seemed like you didn't like it because you didn't know what it meant. If you know what it means, then I don't know.

But actually, it's more Internet-user abbreviations.

JoeHardyRocks

"Hey! Don't do that here. You'll mess up my bedspread."
Rolling his eyes, Joe sat on the window sill and started sawing.
"Thank you, Joe."
"You're welcome, Martha Stewart."

And it's a way of showing an action. Seems more effective to me:

"laughing out loud!"

"LOL!"

JoeHardyRocks

I show actions by emoticns.... :-\

Or happy! ;D

That grin looks so goofy sometimes though. But yeah, I guess the intended effect normally works.

There's all this controversy over the winking one...although I guess that's my fault...

JoeHardyRocks

Winking usually means you're kidding. ;) (Not kidding ;))

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.

That's what I said! I guess it also depends on the statement that accompanies it, but that shouldn't matter either because you're suppose to be kidding. But people like to blur the distinction between online and real life. Actually, think about this. If I was joking in real life, would I wink?

This is just weird.
