Thank you for the enlightenment! You have shown me the path to nirvana!

I wasn't sure, I did not have a clue!

Honestly I think that all of the trilogies are stupid. If S&S are trying to raise excitement for the HUB series in me way, then why no ever get out and advertise the set of trilogies rather than just raising the prices to nearly six dollars and puttng two boys (who often look nothing like the way Frank and Joe are dscribed in the book) on the front cover? ???

Good point and good question.

Expounding on my last point, who here also thinks that the price increase on the books (whichwas obviously done just to help pay for their having to get models for the covers) is equally stupid ?  ???

I agree with you there.  Infact, Chapters.ca is showing that in Canada, as of May 2009 and starting with Galaxy X Book 1, the price is going up to $7.99, while remaining at $5.99 in the US.

So, in Canada, when I compared the UB's to the Grosset & Dunlap prices, there is only a $1-$2 difference between the paperbacks and the hardcovers (Some of the Hardcovers are selling for $8.99 [The Pentagon Spy], while others are selling for $9.99 [The Tower Treasure, Mystery of the Spiral Bridge]).  But, I must say, the UB's don't have the same level of writing as the Grosset & Dunlap books.

Also, on Chapters.ca, there is a listing for 2 French language versions of UB's #'s 1 & I believe 2 (http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/search?keywords=Franklin%20W.%20Dixon&pageSize=10&sort=ReleaseDate&sortDirection=true&page=0).  Also, in French the Series title roughly translates to "Frank and Joe, Very Special Agents", with Volume 2 being translated as "To Boils Race".

If the price goes up to $7.99 I will seriously consider not buying the UB, anymore.

JoeHardyRocks

If you don't like 'em, then why do you buy them?
"Hey! Don't do that here. You'll mess up my bedspread."
Rolling his eyes, Joe sat on the window sill and started sawing.
"Thank you, Joe."
"You're welcome, Martha Stewart."

Yeah, I say we should boycott the books or something until the guys at S&S either reduce the prices or promise to clean up their act and write stories worthy of us paying th extra money (Murder House Series,I see you out there!)  >:(

SimonandSchuster.com now has this to say about the UB miniseries.
QuoteEach book in the new Hardy Boys miniseries format will feature a self-contained story as well as build toward a bigger mystery that won?t conclude until the end of the third installment.

I wish they could have told us that before getting our hopes up.

So why are they bothering to call them a "Trilogy"?

Yeah the more correct word is "mini-seris".

... or trash with a front and back cover and two mildly good looking boys as models for the covers...  :-[
